HOLY ZOILO!

There are "moments" in games that carry over to over "moments".  Tonight, Zoilo Almonte had a moment... or better yet, a few of them and not only that...  the Yankees won tonight and it had a lot to do with rookie Zoilo Almonte who was 3-4 tonight with 1 run and 1 RBI.  That's a nice night.

Tonight, David Phelps got the win pitching 5.2 innings, allowing 8 hits and just 2 runs. The combination of Boone Logan, Shawn Kelley, David Robertson and Mariano Rivera followed.   There was no save tonight.

Tack on the combination of confidence and hitting and the Yankees did some great things.  Thank goodness, we needed it.

The hitting went like this... Robinson Cano sacrificed Brett Gardner in for the first run.  That came in the 2nd inning.  In the 3rd, Austin Romine scored on a Ichiro grounder.   In the 4th, Travis Hafner and Lyle Overbay scored... and in the 6th, Zoilo Almonte homered. Then in the 8th, 1 more run scored on a ground ball by Lyle Overbay.  No, the hitting wasn't outstanding... but it was good enough for  solid runs.

Final: Yankees 6 - Rays 2.
