Looks like there is good news coming from the Yankees disabled list. We always like
good news when anyone of our players are progressing from injuries, and
are closer to coming back to play. Well, I'm happy to say that
Francisco Cervelli is inching his way closer to coming home and back
behind home plate.
According to Wallace Matthews the pins have been
removed from his injured hand and is in Tampa playing catch, and been
participating in bullpen sessions. Read that HERE. He continues to strengthen his hand
through rehab and exercise. Cervelli suffered a fracture in his right
hand by a foul tip in just the first inning of a game against the
Toronto Blue Jays. He needed surgery to repair the fracture and was said
to miss 6 weeks at the time. He was off to a good start the 2013
campaign prior to the injury. He was hitting with a .269 BA., 3 HR's and
8 RBI's. Even though the team will not give a definitive time table on
when he will be back, it is looking like it could be back sometime in the
coming weeks.
We do know that we can see "Cisco" before we see Curtis Granderson who still has a pin inserted into his fractured pinky on his left
hand. He still has yet to resume any baseball activities. I love
knowing our guys are getting back to being 100% and are close to being
given the green light. Barring setbacks, of course. A better way to look
at it, is the disabled list is getting thin. Hopefully, we can rejoice
at some point when it is completely empty. Wishful thinking on my part,
I know. But many of you are thinking the same as well.
Some good news out of Yankee land, we will take it!
