THE YANKEES WIN & YANKEELAND REJOICES

The Yankees won. Say Hallelujah, say Amen.
I needed to write that. Lately every night it's been brutal, but last night, it was glorious. The Yankees were able to hit and score runs and not only that, the pitching was able to hold back the Orioles and actually nail it down for the win and save!  Whenever I see Rafael Soriano untuck, I realize just how much I've missed it.

Phil Hughes pitched 6 innings, allowed only 6 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 5 and only let up 1 home run.  Phil Hughes pitched well last night.  Thank God.  It's funny, I swore August was the month for the Yankees. I was excited about it, but then August came and went and it wasn't too good.  September showed up fast and through quite a few struggles, The Yankees did what they could do, which wasn't enough and their first place lead was lost.  In the end, Hughes has struggled off and on this year but when it counted, last night, Phil Hughes dug deep and pitched really well. I'm happy for him. The rest of the bullpen only gave up 2 hits after that.
That was a combination of Cody Eppley, Boone Logan, a low socked David Robertson and Rafael Soriano I'm happy for my Yankees....could we be back? I had a hunch that that could be the case.
I Tweeted it last night before the game even began. My gut was acting up based on the fact that the past few games the Yanks were grinding out at bats and pushed themselves to the limit. There were "moments" and it was almost like they were trying to dig out of the hole. Last night, they won.

Alex Rodriguez was 2-4 and hit a home run.  He's back... it's official. The guy has an 11 game hitting streak and while I don't always agree with keeping these players on the DL all the time because I feel like the Yankees are over cautious, I believe ARod has healed just right and will be a factor this fall. Having him back is major. With Mark Teixeira expected back Saturday, I see big things on the horizon...just in time.

Steve Pearce cranked out his first home run as a Yankee and good  for him.  You have to give him credit.  My take is simple, get all these guys rolling and get them the confidence they need and trust me, the Yankees can and will win it all. Russell Martin hit his 16th of the season.  I am hoping this guy starts to get back to his old clutch self...we could really use him right now!

Derek Jeter was great last night too. He was 3 for 5.  The Captain is on a mission, let him lead us!

Final tonight: Yankees 8 - Orioles 5.

2 more games to win the series against the Orioles.  Let's do this!
