ERIC CHAVEZ: LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE

I came across an article that was written after our loss to Detroit on August 7th. In it was an interesting quote from Eric Chavez. He said, “Alex is a huge part of the lineup and it’s showing how big of a part of our team he is.” (Read HERE.)

Oh, Chavez, you’re so modest!
Look... I’m not saying we don’t miss Alex Rodriguez. Sure we miss him, probably the same way we miss Gardy right now, but in the meant time, we got this! Or rather, Chavez has got this.

For instance, I don't see Chavez missing a hot shot here....I see him doing an Elvis pose! In other words, Eric Chavez is the man and let’s face it... none of us really saw Eric Chavez coming through as well as he has. Eric Chavez is Lightning in a Bottle...and I'm thrilled! We all love the guy!  Over the past few years, Chavez has had a streak of bad luck; injuries that have kept him from playing to his full potential as well as playing full time. We wrote a clever piece in BYB titled WHY MR. FRAGILE STRIKES AGAIN. Let's face it, the guy's accident-prone and not an every day replacement for ARod...or so we thought.

The bottom line is Chavez has been a pleasant surprise. Chavez is on a tear right now and this Yankee fan is extremely grateful for it. In the month of August alone Chavez has a .480 OBP and a .458 BA. He has come up big for us several times, including in Thursday’s win against Detroit when he followed Mark Teixeira’s homer with one of his own, read HERE.

Honestly, I am really enjoying this hot streak he's on. So long as he remains healthy, Chavez is very productive piece of our line-up. I miss ARod and I wish him a speedy and healthy recovery, but I think, for right now, it is safe to say we are in the capable hands of Chavez.

  1. I agree with everthing u said except about missing Arod. How many times did u shake ur head as he popped up in a big spot with runners on? The power is gone, without the juice he's nothing. Chavy has brought clutch hitting, fielding along with some pop in middle of order. Take your time Arod, were fine without you
