IT'S HARD TO NOT BE ROMANTIC ABOUT THE YANKEES

I love when the Yankees pound Josh Beckett. I just want to beat the guy to a pulp whenever he's out there and it's probably because I still can't stand him since the 2003 World Series when we faced him with the Marlins. He's arrogant, he thinks who the hell he is, and while I like confidence, I think cockiness needs to take a back seat...especially if you can't back it up.  He can't anymore... he needs to be humbled.

Last night was a wild one.  Like I've said many times before, the Yankees are my guys...no matter what.  Sure, doubt entered my mind when the game was quickly tied up 5 to 5 in the bottom of the first inning.  But bottom line, this rivalry has always been amazing, and if the Red Sox didn't come back like both teams have done to one another game after game, series after series and year after year, well, it just wouldn't be a rivalry now would it?
To put it simply, it was about getting the lead and keeping it, the trouble was each team knew it wouldn't be easy.  Think about it this way, there's a doubleheader today, yet combined there were 11 pitchers used last night.  Our guy Hiroki Kuroda went 5.2 innings, allowed 10 hits and 7 runs, 6 of them earned and I'm not even that annoyed.  Kuroda's kind of new to this rivalry, although, like I said earlier, I would have appreciated the pummeling of Beckett and left it at that. He was followed by Boone Logan who got the win, Cody Eppley, David Robertson and Rafael Soriano. All did a decent job, allowing our offense to take the lead and hold the Red Sox down.
The Yankees did not hit a homer run last night. That's important to point out because it's Fenway Park and guys like Alex Rodriguez hit well there. Curtis Granderson was 3-4 last night with 2 hits.  Mark Teixeira was 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs, a big night for him and Eric Chavez, who filled in at 3rd base for ARod was 2-3 with 2 RBIs. Alex DH'ed and was 3-4 with 1 RBI.
Robinson Cano and Raul Ibanez both had doubles last night. Granderson and Tex had triples.

In the 7th there was a play to Derek Jeter's right that was clearly on it's way to the outfield but with a stretch he was able to glove it and make a great throw to 3rd for the force.  Look, I love Jeter and I actually don't believe I'm over exaggerating when I say, it was outstanding and heads up. You always tell little leaguers to know where your throwing and know who's on base before the ball is hit.  He made it look easy.  Way to go Jeet. Jeter was also 2-5 with a run scored.
In the end, David Robertson tallied 2 strikeouts that BYB will throw into the High Socks for Hope pot and Rafael Soriano got the save, untucked and game over in Fenway... Yankees win.

Final Score: Yankees 10 - Red Sox 8

Double header is next.  2 games today...keep it rolling boys...pummel the Saux.
