Very concerning news coming out of Yankeeland. Brian Hoch, who covers the Yankees for MLB.com reports the Yankees are placing CC Sabathia on the disabled list with a Grade 1 strain of the adductor muscle near his left leg. Basically he has a pulled groin. They are expecting Sabathia to miss two starts and will return after the All-Star break. Freddy Garcia will take Sabathia’s place in the rotation.“He doesn’t want to go on (the DL), but he understands it’s the best thing to do,” Joe Girardi said. “Missing two starts is better than seven or eight.”
Hoch tweeted that CC strained his groin in the 4th inning against the Mets and just told the Yankees yesterday after his bullpen session and, that Brian Cashman is also leaning toward calling up Adam Warren. Warren is currently pitching with Scranton and in 15 games is 5-5 with a 3.86 ERA so far this season. He's a 6'2 and a right hander.
What can you say other than wow and uh oh! Let's hope that we are really only looking at a minimum of two missed starts. Without our Ace we could be in serious trouble come second half of the season. I am not ready to hit the panic button just yet. I'm willing to let this play until we hear otherwise. BYB will continue to keep you posted.
