Some news out of Yankeeland on Brett Gardner's recovery and possible return. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com tweeted just a short time ago that the Yankees expect Brett Gardner back from his elbow injury in late July, but will pursue a speedy center field type if he takes longer than expected.
What does that mean? I'm a little concerned by that bit of information. It sounds to me that the Yankees are still very concerned about whether Gardner's elbow is getting better. Its hard to see the silver lining to hear that the Yanks will pursue a speedy center fielder if Gardy takes longer than expected. Let's hope we get Gardner back sooner than later. Don't get me wrong, I love the long ball, but really miss Gardner on the base paths helping us manufacture a few runs.
