HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE CAPTAIN

That's right, Derek Jeter celebrates his 38th birthday today.  It is just incredible to realize that many of us Yankee fans have watched Jeter grow up right before our eyes.  From the 21-year-old skinny rookie who began his incredible career in the Majors with the Yankees in 1995, to the veteran and face of, not only the New York Yankees, but in many ways all of Major League Baseball.

Who could argue against the idea that Derek Jeter is one of the most important players in the history of Major League Baseball.  Not just for his heroics on the field, but the way he has been such an admirable ambassador for the National Pastime off the field.

The man is like a fine wine, just gets better and better with age. I know, that was super cliche' but it had to be said!  So please join me in wishing Derek Sanderson Jeter; aka Mr. November; aka Captain Clutch; or simply The Captain a very Happy 38th Birthday.
