WHY THE YANKEES FOUND SOME MOTIVATION

"And nature is smarter than people think. Little by little we lose our friends, we lose everything, we keep losing and losing until we say 'What the hell am I living around here for, I got no reason to go on. But with you kid...boy I got a reason to go on."
--Mickey motivating Rocky Balboa

The past few days have been brutal for Yankee fans. The emotional roller coaster had all of us yelling and screaming and bitching and moaning but there is 1 guy in that Yankee clubhouse that we all needed to turn to and listen to for inspiration and motivation when losing streaks and inconsistency happen... Derek Jeter, our Captain.  When I think about how we've really not been the Yankee team we should be and I don't want to watch or talk about Yankees because I'm frustrated and annoyed... I realize that Derek Jeter is in the thick of it every single day and has been for years, in tough times like now and in great times of year's past. Derek Jeter is leading this team and he's our motivator.  And it's right then that I realized that I don't want to ever give up on my Yankees because you can't give up on a winner. He's the reason so many of us Bleed Yankee Blue and he makes me proud to be a Yankee fan because I know that times can only get better from here.

Tonight the Yankees won. Sure, we didn't blow the barn door off or anything, but we took the lead and we held the Kansas City Royals and won a game in the Bronx. It may seem like a small achievement, but it's bigger than you think...because now you need to think winning streak.  Phil Hughes went 6 innings tonight, allowed 5 hits, 2 runs and struck out 7.  I'll take that from Phil Hughes...he's 4-5 now. I'm hoping he's turning a corner for the better.

The Yankee offense crept in tonight, thank goodness. Only 6 hits, but 3 runs to hold the Royals to only 2. Robinson Cano had a homer and is up to .304 and RBI's tonight by Jeter and Curtis Granderson too.  Hey look, wins bring joy, let's hope this joy bleeds over into tomorrow.

Final Score tonight: Yankees 3 - Royals 2.

7:05pm game tomorrow night in the Bronx. Hey, let's win the series...what do you say?
