WHY IT'S THE MOTHER OF ALL COMEBACKS

As you’ve probably heard, the “Core 4” will once again be up to 2 members today. Yes, Dandy Andy Pettitte’s comeback will come to fruition on what is supposed to be a lovely spring Sunday in the
Bronx. This couldn’t come at a better time for the Bombers. The old adage is that pitching wins championships and back in Spring Training everybody was obsessing over how the Yanks were shoe-ins with their abundance of pitching….. How’s that worked out so far?
  • CC Sabathia:  A slow start, but now dominant
  • Hiroki Koroda: Which day is it? A good day or a bad day?
  • Ivan Nova: High ERA, but is starting to look like the dominant guy he was in 2011.
  • Phil Hughes: Looked good the other night and had a great day yesterday, but is it a fluke?
  • Freddy Garcia: Looked lost as a starter. Maybe he can help the taxed bullpen.
  • David Phelps: Looks good, but I need to see more
  • Michael Pineda:  See ya next year buddy.
So... that brings us to Andy Pettitte, While he did get his tits lit up in Rochester last Sunday, that outing was more about pitch count and stamina. Oh and the pink elephant in the stadium, that was him testifying again in the Roger Clemens case, I’m sure weighed mightily on him; especially since his story seems to have changed.  While I’m not expecting Pettitte to blow my socks off, after all he is 40 and hasn’t pitched at this level in a year, I do expect him to eat innings and keep the Yankees in the game. Welcome back Andy... we missed you, and we hope you still have the "stuff".
