Buster Olney of ESPN says that the Yankees would be interested in dealing one of their starting pitchers, although there have not been any discussions about Freddy Garcia yet. Read Buster HERE. It's amazing how things worked out for the Yankees this winter, getting rid of AJ Burnett and getting Michael Pineda would have been fine. Then Hiroki Kuroda showed up and Andy Pettitte un-retired...amazing.
9. Mariano's last Home Opener?
There is no doubt that we need to start thinking about life after Mariano Rivera and the Washington Post has a piece that really makes you think about all he's done for this ball club. Mo will be missed but the season is still young and we need to enjoy him every outing right now. Anyway, read the Post piece HERE.
8. Coming Home
Bleeding Yankee Blue created this video for Opening Day last Friday and people seem to love it so we're posting it again in our top 10 Yankee Shorts #3 installment to celebrate Opening Day today! Read OPENING DAY: A CHAMPIONSHIP IS COMING HOME TO THE BRONX.
7. Pettitte's Coming Back!
We received word on Monday that Andy Pettitte pitched 3 innings in Class A Tampa and felt great. There is no doubt that Pettitte will be apart of the Yankees rotation come May, especially if he feels good now. Read about it HERE.

It's always great when you get recognition for something you wrote and thankfully, both Francisco Cervelli and Laura Posada let Mikey and I know on Twitter that they appreciate some kind words from some of our recent Bleeding Yankee Blue posts. Read WHY WE WANT CERVELLI BACK! and WHY I MISS POSADA DURING TIMES LIKE THESE. Both Cisco and Laura's tweets are above. Thanks for the support guys!
4. Cano has germs!
Hilarious commercial from ESPN featuring our pal Robinson Cano passing germs around the offices of ESPN with his fancy handshakes. It doesn't get better than this. Enjoy it, I did.
3. David Phelps is impressive
Not sure how closely you have been watching David Phelps this season...I have and he's been incredible. The way he's come in for the Yankees and just dominated so quickly reminds me a lot of the way David Robertson started out. The other night Phelps pitched 2 1/3 innings and struck out 4 and retired 7 in a row. He told Bryan Hoch that he just wants to have fun and feel comfortable. Damn... I'd say you are David! Read Hoch HERE.
2. The Journey of the Baseball Bat
This video may in fact be the greatest production piece ESPN has ever done. It's how a baseball bat is created and the journey from the woods to the baseball diamond. I loved it when I saw it and it makes no difference that it's not Yankees related...it's baseball related and you need to see it.
1. Mariano's role reversal?
From the same Washington Post article (HERE) from #9 on this list, a nugget that made me smile. We all know that Jorge Posada is throwing out the first pitch today, but did you know that there is talk about Mariano Rivera catching that pitch? According to the Post, it's something that's been talked about. Mariano is quoted as saying "I would like to...it would be wonderful."
