BREAKING: PINEDA HAS SHOULDER TEAR; SURGERY NEEDED
Yankees right hander Michael Pineda has been diagnosed with an anterior labral tear of his right shoulder and is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday.
Pineda will have a labral repair procedure performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Dr. David Altchek will perform the procedure, assisted by Yankees team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said the timetable for Pineda's recovery is 12 months, meaning the right-hander will not return to the field until next season at the earliest.
BYB will have further analysis on this later today and tomorrow morning.
