WHY YANKEE FANS WANT BOTH CANO & GRANDY BACK

The poll was on a Yankee fan site, so I didn’t exactly expect Bleeding Yankee Blue readers to sit here and vote against guys like Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson, 2 guys that have already given so much to the Yankees the past few seasons…but I needed to try.

We all know there will be guys like Cole Hamels and Matt Cain possibly available on the Free Agent market at the end of the season and questions have recently popped up on whether or not the Yankees should pursue a top pitcher like Hamels AND will they still sign Cano and Granderson, OR would they just pass and stay with our guys. The poll results were interesting and out of 67 votes... here's how it concluded:

• SIGN CANO & HAMELS: 12
• SIGN GRANDERSON & CANO: 43
• SIGN GRANDERSON & HAMELS: 1
• SIGN CANO LONG TERM: 8

To me this says one thing, you’re loyal and you're basing it on just how dominant Cano and Grandy were last season…you’re still on that high. I bet you if it was September and Curtis Granderson stunk up the season with a .240 AVG and 10 homers, you’d immediately be winning to part ways with him, keep Cano, sign Cole Hamels and still get us under that $189 payroll. But again, one thing Yankee fans are... we're loyal, meaning, you do your job in Yankeeland, we will always love you, you don’t, i.e. Carl Pavano… it’s bye bye.

So did we really learn anything from this poll? Only that you love your New York Yankees and that’s totally fine with me. Right now though, we need to sit back and enjoy the season, after all, Cano and Grandy are still New York Yankees and we need to root our heads off… it’s almost real baseball, I cannot wait!
