Johnny Damon: According to Joel Sherman from the NY Post HERE, there a belief that Johnny Damon will make a serious run for 3000 hits and has altered his plate approach to accomplish that. Currently Damon sits at 2723. I'd be curious to see if Damon could latch on to teams for the next few years to accomplish this feat. You would think Damon would have been signed by now by anyone, but it's clear his price tag of $5 million a year is just too steep for teams, including the Yankees. That being said, I still believe the Yankees could sign the guy if they move AJ Burnett. You know the Yankees, they love milestones and as he inches closer to 3000, maybe they'd snatch him up for that achievement at Yankee Stadium...stay tuned.
Travis Hafner: With the Yankees and Pirates on hold with their deal because the Yankees aren't too excited about what prospects the Pirates are offering, some are suggesting the Yankees swap Burnett for Hafner. It has been stated that this deal is not going to happen. Read HERE. Sure Hafner would be fun in the Bronx, but ultimately I believe the Pirates panic and eventually give the Yankees what they want... Garrett Jones. Michael Pineda: Pineda showed up to Yankees Spring Training early and he's totally excited. Read BYB HERE and the New York Daily News HERE. You want to watch brotherhood at it's best? There was a moment where Pineda said to Robinson Cano: “My head is (spinning) because I’ve never stayed in New York.” Cano responded, “Don’t worry man, I’ll take care of you.” You gotta love it.
