BURNETT TRADE DEADLINE... SATURDAY... HIGH NOON

Saturday...High Noon....Yes... we've reached the point were now there are deadlines involving the AJ Burnett to Pittsburgh trade...if you can believe that. What the hell are we doing here? This is a clear cut example of people salivating on any hint of Yankee news... and AJ Burnett is clearly the lightning rod that keeps on giving.

Twitter is blowing up… the world wants to know… when is this going to happen? Luckily for us, Ken Rosenthal has heard us all and responded… Read his report HERE. It turns out Rosenthal got word that the Yankees want this deal done before the Yankees head into Spring Training with Pitchers and Catchers Saturday. Believe it or not, Burnett is a pitcher, so like Ron Burgundy standing in the Newsroom with a boner, that could be alittle awkward.

There are some interesting tid-bits coming out about other teams as well, such as the Angels who the Yankees were trying to obtain Bobby Abreu for, but Burnett didn't want to play for a West coast team and so, he declined the idea. Read that nugget from Wally Matthews HERE.

Then of course we all know about the Yankees and Indians talking about the potential swap of Burnett for Travis Hafner. Read HERE. That was shot down by the Indians as they said it wasn't happening... but I have to say, it's an interesting idea.

Throughout this whole ordeal, someone out there needs to feel alittle sorry for AJ Burnett. Sure, fans originally ragged on Burnett because his performance was less than stellar while with the New York Yankees, but now it’s really about humanity. The guys human, not a rag doll. He’s a punching bag in purgatory right now and the only thing worse would be if he was wearing a dunce cap while being forced to write “I will be good” on a black board 1 thousand times. It's humiliating already. The guy’s got to be dying right now. Who could take that kind of punishment? You can make the argument that we've been punished with a lousy pitching Burnett for 3 years... but that’s unfair… and also a bad joke.

The only good that can come out of this is if AJ Burnett does in fact go to the Pittsburgh Pirates before Saturday, the Yankees are able to convince them to take at least $15 million of AJ’s remaining contract and the Yankees get a few guys they can eventually use on their club. This is turn opens up a possibility to 2 of signing Eric Chavez and Raul Ibanez or Johnny Bravo. Any way you slice it, we’re all backed up right now...we're at a stand still... at a stalemate...we're on hold, we're in a holding pattern… you get the idea.
