Don't look now, but the Yankees and Red Sox are tied for first place and they're about the play each other. Good for us, bad for Boston.
Tonight, Ivan Nova looked awesome, something we all want AJ Burnett to do. Good for Nova though. With that performance, he could have earned a spot in the rotation. Would he replace AJ Burnett? I doubt it. The Yankee brass doesn't like to make mistakes and if they're paying the money they're paying AJ, they'll suggest he has experience and they won't move him out of the rotation, Phil Hughes however, may take a walk to the bullpen after Nova's stellar pitching tonight, he just looked awesome. 7.2 innings pitched, allowed 6 hits and 1 run. The best part? 1o strikeouts and his stuff looked great.(Photo: Getty)
Great offense once again by the Yankees. Robinson Cano cranked out a solo shot to start things off early, then later on, Russell Martin cranked out a 3 run shot. Martin seems to be turning his slump around alittle, he's been looking good lately. Thank Goodness. Even Brett Gardner used his wheels and that always makes me happy when he steals a base.
Unusual play tonight from Derek Jeter getting tagged trying to get back to second base. That's Derek Jeter and that normally never happens to the Captain, but it did, damn. Luckily, we were winning tonight and it turns out, that run didn't matter. Jeet dodged a bullet.

One final point on Ivan Nova. It was 4-1 for Nova's entire outing. He's a young kid, yet he proved right then that he could keep the White Sox held down and the Yanks were able to chip away. To me, that's important because that's something that our pal AJ Burnett needs to do. To me, Nova is pitching using Pyramid of Pitching Dominance. With mechanic analysis comes confidence, when the confidence comes, any doubt leaves and focus takes over. Hopefully AJ saw something in Nova's pitching performance. Hopefully AJ starts using the Pyramid. Believe me, it's the key, especially for someone like him right now.
Final Score tonight: Yankees 7 - White Sox 2. Nice sweep as we now move on to Boston. It's time for the evil Red Sox to feel the squeeze and the Yankees have the momentum now, so now's the time to capitalize. Go Yanks!
