WHY DOMINANCE REIGNS

"That was a huge home run for us, and CC, it seemed like after he got that lead, he became more efficient." --Joe Girardi

Call him a pitching God. Well...that's what I call him. I love CC Sabathia and think he's just so fun to watch. I never love watching pitchers do their thing normally, it's not always exciting. But there's something about CC that makes me smile every time...kicking ass and taking names.

The Yankees on their West coast road trip were able to improve to a 5-3 record. Today is the last game of that road trip and if they can get a win before they head home to the Bronx, it will be a great confidence builder going in against the evil Red Sox Tuesday.

To me, the coolest highlight last night came in the fourth inning, it was a tie game and Robinson Cano cranked one to right field. Obviously, with Torii Hunter out there, you just never know if it's going to go and apparently Cano thought the same thing.

"I think if he caught that one, I would have to run to right field," Cano smiled. "It's the kind of thing where you say, 'Go, go, go, go,' then you see him jumping and you say ' Oh no.' But then when I saw the ball bounce, I said 'OK, We're cool.'

That's baseball at it's best. Pitting strength against strength...and who's going to win. Luckily this time Cano and the Yankees were able to win. Yes, Torii, who's so damn amazing in those situation usually wins that battle so damn, that was so satisfying. That was Cano's 12th homer.

Later on, Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run home run and gave the New York Yankees the lead in the sixth inning. I guess he's over Cameron, what do you think? (By the way, a great piece from Christy Florio about the Alex and Cameron breakup is coming this afternoon, look for it.)

And back to CC... 8 and 2/3 innings last night, just plain brilliant. Mariano Rivera came out for 1 batter and 1 pitch got his 15th save and we all got to go to bed on the East coast finally. These games are literally killing me. Say hallelujah, say Amen.

Finally, one very important highlight. Derek Jeter singled and is now only 15 hits away from 3000. Love that dude. Read WHY JETER IS EPIC FOR 1 GOOD REASON. It will make you smile.

Final Score: Yankees 3 - Angels 2. Final game today. Winning the series to golden, then we go home, rest 1 day and face the evil Red Sox. Go, Yanks Go!

  1. And how the world turns...Santana last night, the 2005 Game 5-ALDS entry for Colon, who pitches today for us!

It is always special to me beating down 'Crybaby' Mike Scioscia, whom I loathe since the '81 World Series & that grew during their domination of us during the Torre Era (plus the '02 and '05 playoff losses)!!!!
