Now, a month or so into the 2011 season, and looking at Jorge swing the bat brings a huge smile to my face. Granted he is only hitting alittle over .150, but I am telling you, he is about to move that average up, and up quickly!
Although, I think Jorge has embraced his role as the Yankees DH, it doesn’t mean he is 100% comfortable with it yet and who could blame him, he's been the backstop forever. During a season, a player has a certain way of preparing for games and a certain lifestyle they live. Jorge now only eats, sleeps, and breaths hitting. I am sure he had to make many lifestyle adjustments in his new role from his diet to his workouts. Jorge Posada, the full time DH for the New York Yankees is a work in progress but I feel he is on his way to one of his best statistical seasons of his career, I really believe that.
Look, is Jorge going to hit .300? Maybe or maybe not, (although, I think he will), but if he gets himself in the upper .270’s or higher and hits 25 or more home runs, you have to tip your cap to this guy and the Yankees have to bring him back. To me, that would be a productive season for an aging former catcher turned DH. Bottom line Jorge... we love you Bro!
