HOLY HIP

It was once again a bad night for the Bronx Bombers against a Max Scherzer who just looked dynamite. The biggest blow in my opinion tonight, in addition to the Yankees just not hitting, has to be Derek Jeter leaving the game with a hip "injury." Look, he probably tweaked it or something, but he grimaced and came out and that never happens to the Captain. Yes, we have Eduardo Nunez sitting on the bench ready to pitch in, but this is our Captain and we need him because he helps get things going with his presence alone.

The most mysterious part of this was Derek's body language in the post game interviews. The way Derek handled the hip question, or, Hip gate, as I call it. In all the years that Derek Jeter has addressed the media, I've never seen him so uncomfortable and defensive answering questions about his hip "injury." He looked almost nervous, like he was hiding something. Yes, he never gives any information, that's nothing new. But what he said was weird... "It's really no big deal, I've played with it before." Wait, what? Is it an injury? Are you hurt? Did you tweak it? Has this been lingering? What's the deal Derek? My opinion, if questions aren't answered and if Derek is out of the lineup tomorrow, Hip gate may linger because of the mere fact that everyone will assume something's wrong. Hell, I hope I'm wrong, but I have a gut feeling about this one and I don't know why. I hope to God he's being honest because if he's not and he plays and hurt himself and the team, that's not very Jeter-esque.

Back to the game. Freddy Garcia finally settled in tonight and threw over 100 pitches. He also had 8 strikeouts. He let up that homer to Ordonez early and then things got serious. Garcia is a veteran. He knows he get go long and stay in it, especially if he has his stuff, but he needs one important asset to winning... his team offensively and the Yankees were shutout tonight...hence the loss. Not a good way to come into the Motor City, that's for sure. 4 hits tonight for New York and they struck out 7 times by Scherzer, twice by Albuquerque. Not good.

Alex Rodriguez is 2 for 13 in the Detroit series. He's lost. If there was a hot hitter in April, Alex was it and suddenly, it's gone with a flash. This is a guy that we've held on a pedestal because he was finally 100% healthy and now he's not hitting. Not understanding it, but I hope it disappears.

Final score tonight: Tigers 4 - Yankees 0. Damn it New York, we need a win tomorrow to tie this Series. Afternoon game, let's do this bitches!
