TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Hall of Famer Yogi Berra has been taken in an ambulance from the Yankees spring training complex to a hospital following a fall.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said the 85-year-old former catcher caught one of his sneakers on the carpet in the clubhouse Thursday and fell on his backside. Cashman said Berra did not fall on his head.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi, Cashman and executive Gene Michael were present as Berra left the Steinbrenner Field. Cashman said Berra was "in good spirits" and "did not want to go" to the hospital.
