WHY JONES WILL SUCCEED

All winter the Yankees were accused of signing players whose days were behind them, or players who may be able to help just alittle, no splash. I slammed them as well. After the Lee signing went Philly's way, it became sad and depressing.
Yes, Minor league deals for Freddy Garcia, former Cy Young pitcher, Bartolo Colon could help out a lot, but we just don't know until we see them in action. And then there was Andruw Jones, a fourth outfielder whom many have written off. This player, I believe, will be the Swisher of 2011.

Don't get all excited, I don't mean he'll be as good as Nick Swisher's been, I'm just saying you're gonna be pleasantly surprised with what he's about to present.

The Yanks officially signed Jones today and he will wear number 18. First off, love the number for him. Secondly, expect the Yanks to keep Andruw Jones moving. Why? Because a hot bat he will have if they do. Jones won't be sitting a lot, they're going to work him.

This is how I see it:
  • Gardy, Grandy and Swish need days off once in a while, Jones will be there.
  • Need a bat to hit lefties? Jones is there.
  • Posada needs a day off at DH? Jones will be there.
  • Need a late inning outfield replacement? Jones will be there.
The possibilities are endless and mark my words, the Yanks will not let Jones' bat sit idol. That would be a mistake. Jones, while older now, will be extremely effective this year. If his bat gets used regularly, expect it to stay hot. That's why the Yankees signed him and that bat will make or break Jones in the Bronx...I have no doubt about it.
