Montero is one of baseball’s top prospects and the Yankees have him. Many things could have happened to this youngster. Injury, trades, whatever. Don't forget, it wasn't too long ago that Montero was almost traded to the Mariners for Cliff Lee, but it didn’t work out. Looking back now that Lee went to the Phillies, I’m happy how all this went. Montero is safe and Lee didn't want to come to New York anyway.
So yes, I’m happy Jesus will be in the majors and I know he’ll probably bounce around between Scranton and New York, probably even giving Austin Romine a shot at the Big Show as well, but life is good on the Yankees catching front.
Cashman recently talked about Jesus and said the following: “The minor leagues is (where you) work out your problems, and he’s certainly closing the gap. He’s not there yet, but he’s pretty damn close. We believe he’s better than some starting catchers, defensively, in the big leagues right now.”
Check out the careers of the Yankee catchers including Jorge Posada.
