TRUST ME: WITH ICHIRO, THE YANKS HAVE THE EYE OF THE TIGER

“What’s this lying around shit?”
--John Belushi, Animal House

When the Yankees lose, Yankee fans stop reading and start wondering.  Luckily for the majority of the Bleeding Yankee Blue readers, we don’t just sit around waiting, wondering and panicking that the team is falling apart.  Sure, we are Yankee fans, we want our team to win all the time, but it’s not possible to win every game, it’s just not.

For all you fans that are sitting around, just going through the motions today after the Yankees lost 4 in a row to the Athletics, know this; It seems worse because it’s a cluster, but it’s not the end of the world.  The Yankees will do what they’ve always done…find a way to win. It started today, they energized the club with the trade that brought Ichiro to the Bronx.  Read HERE.

Ichiro is going to be the 9 hitter, a second lead off man if you will, and a guy that will be the spark plug and extra speed the Yankees lack in the outfield after Brett Gardner was put on the shelf.

But think back to the Oakland series for a moment. They were close games...all of them.  The Yankees lost by 1 run in every game.  I know, you’re saying “But they didn’t win.” I hear you, but it’s July 23rd.  Stop lying around, stop moping around and put on your pinstripes tonight and root for our guys.  We will get past this.
Think about it, the Yankees have gotten this far with a bullpen that was pieced together and it has succeeded pretty well.  We love our pen and sure, Cody Eppley blew it yesterday, but the reality is, no one is invincible…it was bound to happen sooner or later.  Rafael Soriano gave up a home run. OK, he’s not a God, even he can throw a mistake ball.  These are the same guys we were worshipping a week ago and now people are calling them dogs…unacceptable.

The Yankees can’t get the runner over? Has Runners in Scoring position got you down? That will change with Ichiro. Trust me. I told you Brian Cashman would not leave this team high and dry and he hasn't. He's getting the parts we need. Believe me, he wants to win more than any of us.

So...the Yankees are now in Seattle, already making a splash before a pitch is even thrown and a change of scenery will be good.  The Yankees will regroup, re-energize and they know that more than 4 losses can’t happen.  Trust me, Derek Jeter and Company will change the attitude and win for us, because this is what he does best...he leads and the Yankees will follow.

Ladies and Gentlemen, 4 losses is not the end of the world.  We will survive like we have so many times before.  It’s a rut, that’s it.

So get home from work, have a nice dinner, tuck the kids in and put on the pinstripes. Clean slate tonight, ladies and gentlemen... the Yankees will play the Mariners in Seattle and know this, we will survive…we always do. How do I know that? Because we’re the New York Yankees, that’s why.
