RUMOR: YANKS COULD MOVE THIS HEAVY HITTER FOR A STARTER!

Right now, I'd say there is next to ZERO chance the Yankees would trade Paul Goldschmidt. We have few valuable and dependable bats, and he is one of them. The Yankees NEED his consistent production right now. The Yankees also need other pieces, so if Goldy's stock remains high....that next to zero chance of a trade could change down the road.

We are 3 months from the MLB trade deadline, but this idea is already out there. A lot has to go right between now and then but there's chatter that if Goldy stays consistent he could be used to bring back a high end starter back to the Yankees, read more HERE

Goldy has a one-year deal and we see short term deals get traded for other pieces a lot. It happens every season, but we are still so early in the season. Goldy's bat has been hot, and even in a long season it is expected to see a bat cool off after a while. Even when it does, there's no reason to believe that another team won't want him. He's a seven time All-Star and honestly, playing in Yankee stadium is the perfect place for him to play and stay consistent.

But again, a lot has to go right for the Yankees to part with him. I do think the Yankees are going to need guys like Ben Rice contribute more and consistently to this team. Would he be ready to fill a permanent role at first? That's a lot to ask right now. We also need more good news from Giancarlo Stanton's rehab and Cody Bellinger needs to wake up. We also need Jazz Chisholm healthy again so he can be an everyday guy. That will be even more important since DJ LeMahieu just can't be relied on, despite him moving to Tripe-A for rehab. It's not "if" he gets hurt again.....it's "when" in my mind.

Losing Gerrit Cole meant we would need to do something to reinforce the starting rotation. WE all knew that, even though Yankee brass has chosen to sit back and just rely on internal options only. They haven't been proactive at all. Maybe this allows them to do that.....but who knows where we will be by the trade deadline?

Would you move Goldy if the price was right? What  or who would you want in return? Comment and let us know.
