STEINBRENNER & CASHMAN HAVE BUILT A BETTER YANKEE TEAM

Alright, let’s get one thing straight—I love what the Yankees have done this offseason. Hal Steinbrenner actually opened the vault, and believe it or not, Brian Cashman—yes, that Brian Cashman—put together a solid offseason. Credit where it’s due. I’ll rip them when they deserve it, but this year? They did their job.

Now one thing I hate is the insanity of Hal even mentioning an extension for Aaron Boone. An extension. For "No Championships" Boone. The guy shouldn’t be managing the Yankees—frankly, I wouldn’t even trust him with the Somerset Patriots. It’s like handing out a gold star for mediocrity. If Hal wants to throw money around, maybe start by investing in a manager who knows what he’s doing. Read HAL CAN'T BE SERIOUS ABOUT EXTENDING "NO CHAMPIONSHIPS" BOONE... for more.

Meanwhile, the Yankees are in their usual "let’s see if we can strike gold" phase, searching for those sneaky value guys. Totally normal. Carlos Carrasco for one. Oh boy. You’d think Hal just rolled up to a garage sale with how some fans are reacting. Many fans don't like it. Look, Carrasco’s recent track record isn’t exactly inspiring—he went 3-10 with a 5.64 ERA over 103 2/3 innings. Last year with the Mets, he got shelled to the tune of a 6.80 ERA, and Cleveland gave him another shot. The guy went from being a reliable starter to serving up batting practice. But it’s a minor league deal. If he stinks, he stinks—no harm done.

Now, onto the real gem: Hal’s legendary “We can’t compete with the Dodgers financially” comment. Oh, Hal. Sweet, sweet Hal. You are the literal owner of the New York Yankees. What are we even talking about? Of course, people dragged him for that, and deservedly so. Baseball insiders on the Baseball Today podcast didn’t hold back either. Essentially Sports quoted one of them saying, “I have not checked since the start of the show whether or not they have started a GoFundMe page for the Yankees.” I mean, ouch. But also? Fair.

That being said—Hal did enough this offseason. Way better than last year. And the best part? We are finally free from the Soto hostage situation. Thank God. Some fans are in full meltdown mode with Steinbrenner for dumpster diving and acting like the Yankees are spiraling into an eternal rebuild, but I don’t feel that way. This offseason actually felt like a turning point, and I fully expect them to compete this year.

To the fans demanding absolute perfection—take a breath. We were handcuffed by Soto, now we’re not. The Yankees are in a good spot. Let’s roll.
