It's funny. Each time we ring in the New Year I get this overwhelming belief that the Yankees are going to win that year. I don't know if it's the fact that Time Square is the epicenter of New Years or if it's because they play "New York, New York" as the confetti falls from the sky, but when the New Years rings in I get this winning feeling.

The Yankees appeared in their first World Series in 1921, and have played in at least one Fall Classic in every decade, until of course that streak ended when 2019 ticked over to 2020 and the Yankees feel short once again. So 100 years later, 2021 could be the Yankees year, the end of the drought and the beginning of a new dynasty.

"This drought isn't the team's longest in terms of years, however. The Yankees went 11 seasons without appearing in a World Series from 1965 to 1975. And after losing the 1981 World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York went 13 seasons without a Series appearance," reported USA Today. I lived through that 13 year drought and turned out okay. But it is time. 2009 feels like forever ago and my championship gear needs a face lift.
As the YES Network reported, "Now, with the 2021 season looming on the horizon and free-agency decisions still to be solved, the Yankees rotation has a few question marks heading into the new year." In a Yankee press conference at the end of the year, it appears that the pitching rotation looks to include Gerrit Cole, Jordan Montgomery, Domingo German, Deivi Garcia and Jonathan Loaisiga. No Masahiro Tanaka and Luis Severino at this point and perhaps not at all.

"Severino coming out of the gate in the middle of the season will have maybe some safeties on, so to speak, until we get a chance to get a feel for where he’s at,” Cashman told Meredith Marakovits on “Yankees Hot Stove” on the YES Network back in December. Severino is going to have to be alright because with all money going to DJ LeMahieu, none will be left for another pitcher like free agent Trevor Bauer.
2021 World Champions has a nice ring to it and besides, A-Rod was in Times Square for New Years so maybe that's the little extra luck the Yankees need to get there. I have that winning feeling in my soul and I hope the Yankees catch it from me.
