A JUDGIAN BLAST SETS A RECORD

Source: Yahoo Sports

As Aaron Judge stepped up to the plate in Saturday evening's Yankees-Red Sox contest, Fox broadcasters said almost predictively that the Yankee right-fielder has hit a home run in three consecutive games, but never did it four times. And guess, what? That stat went right out the window as Judge blasted his fourth home run in as many games.

"I'm just trying to lock in for big at-bats when we've got guys on base, trying to drive in some runs," Judge said. "It's been helping me a lot having DJ in front of me, getting three hits a night and always on base, always causing a little havoc. I'm just trying to feed off that. Like they say, hitting is contagious," said Judge after Friday night's win against Boston to kickoff the series.

And if hitting is truly contagious than Gio Urshela caught some of that "germ" Saturday night following Judge's first inning blast, as the Yankee third baseman launched a grand slam at his first at bat against the Red Sox, giving the Yankees a deeper lead.

"Being back at home and in this rivalry, you can't help but notice usually how intense it is at times," manager Aaron Boone said. "That was missing a little bit, so it was definitely a little bit different. At the same time, it was still pretty easy to lock in on what we needed to do," reported MLB.com.

The Yankees are no stranger to the long ball and certainly watching Judge and Giancarlo Stanton launch them over the fences is nothing short of exciting, but there is something really special watching Aaron Judge get off to an amazing start and igniting this additional energy across the Yankee clubhouse.

Can Judge make it five consecutive games with a home run tonight? Anything is possible and certainly this adds some much needed extra credit of excitement, but at the end of the day, he's healthy, he's locked in and he's showing us once again that he is the kind of leader this team needs.
