GREG BIRD IS COMING BACK SOON...
There's a nice little nugget out there about Yankee first baseman Greg Bird. He's been reinstated from the 60 day DL...and there's more! Nice!
Elite Sports NY has the nugget, along with several other publications, but we'll give them a plug:
"Greg Bird, who was sidelined with a torn right labrum during the 2016 season, has been reinstated from the 60-day DL by the New York Yankees...He has been recovering from injury since the season began, and now is set to begin work in the Arizona Fall League, is set to begin Tuesday afternoon."
Well, that sounds great... the Arizona Fall League, you gotta love that!
This is pretty exciting. With Mark Teixeira retiring, we'll have both Bird and Tyler Austin platooning at first base and DH'ing a bit for us on some days as well, and it's a real nice mix. 2 solid young players for the Yankees as the youth movement continues. Jesus... when was the last time that happened? I couldn't tell you!
Anyway. Great news from the Yankees on Bird! Can we get to spring training already?
