HONORING TEIXEIRA
Quick note and an important note for a guy that has been with the Yankees since 2009. The Yankees have announced that they will be honoring Mark Teixeira in a send off type thing.
The New York Daily News writes: "The Yankees will end their regular season on a high note, even if it marks the end of October baseball for the Bombers this year.
The team announced Monday that it will honor retiring first baseman Mark Teixiera in a ceremony at Yankee Stadium prior to the club’s final regular season game on Oct. 2 against the Orioles..."
I have personally never truly embraced Tex as a "true Yankee". Neither has fellow BYB writer Mike O'Hara. Not a knock on Mark at all. In fact, Jeana Bellezza is a huge Tex fan. That's the balance at BYB. That's why you love us.
Mark did some great things as a Yankee, I just never "felt it"... bottom line. That being said, my opinion on Mark being a true Yank is kind of irrelevant. The Yankees are doing something nice and special here and Mark does deserve a send-off and I'm glad they're doing this. After all, Mark's retiring, and he deserves a packed Yankee stadium on Oct 2nd. Hopefully he will get a sold out send off.
Anyway... just wanted to fill you in.
Carry on...
