Last night, the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders became Champs!
The Times Tribune writes:
"Like so many times in baseball, though, the team with the best pitching came out on top.
The RailRiders were that team. The team that had a sub-3.00 ERA and was the best in Triple-A for most of the season.
A three-run first inning, highlighted by Chris Parmelee’s three-run home run, was all Jordan Montgomery and a dominant bullpen needed, as the International League champion RailRiders defeated Pacific Coast League champ El Paso, 3-1, to win the 2016 Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game at AutoZone Park in Memphis, Tennessee.
The RailRiders conclude their season with 98 overall victories, the most in franchise history..."
The RailRiders beat the El Paso Chihuahuas! Love that name! Anyway, here's the thing; It wasn't the Tribune that got the word out first, although they've been on top of the RailRiders all season. I got the news from BYB readers Doug Stroup on Twitter:
#Scranton @swbrailriders are the NATIONAL CHAMPS! Way to go boys! @BabyBombers @Yankees @BleednYankeeBlu #PinstripePride pic.twitter.com/P8VyJRe7gu— Doug Stroup (@dougstro) September 21, 2016
No one is more passionate than Stroup when it comes to the Yankees! Gotta love how the BYB family operates!
Anyway...Congrats to the RailRiders. Very exciting!
