In a smart move, the Yankees just got younger again.
They just claimed righty pitcher and 26 year old Layne Somsen off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds. According to Cincinnati.com, "Somsen, who made his big-league debut earlier this month and appeared
in two games for the Reds, has been claimed off waivers by the
Yankees.
Somsen pitched a scoreless inning in Philadelphia during his MLB debut in a 4-3 loss to the Phillies on May 14. He allowed five earned runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts and two home runs allowed in 1 1/3 innings in a 15-6 loss to the Indians on May 16."
And there you have it. Everyone smile.
