Interesting move.
Alex Rodriguez was not removed from the DL to play with the New York Yankees today after all. He was ordered to report to the Trenton Thunder to play a few games in what is being called a rehab assignment and then, after those few days, they will reevaluate him again. Surprise!
NJ.com writes: "Most had expected A-Rod, who had a strained right hamstring, to join the club Tuesday in New York as it starts a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays. Why? Well because manager Joe Girardi said as much on Sunday:
'We could send him on a rehab and he might swing great down there,
then come up and struggle here ... or maybe not swing well down there
and come up and do great here. It's just really hard to predict, so
we're not going to waste his at-bats in Triple-A.'"
At this point, what's a few more days. Carlos Beltran can continue his tear, and you can ignore the piece we put out this morning titled WILL IT BE BELTRAN OR AROD? by Ike Dimitriadis until he actually DOES return to the Bronx. All good.
And by the way... thanks for NOT ignoring Ike's story. Greatly appreciated!
