Okay, so it's been raining ridiculously over the past four days. Frankly, this heavy rain maker is making me crazy along with my co-workers and friends. I know that the weather forecasters are saying that we need the rain and actually our rain levels are lower than normal for this time of year, but it's not only depressing it's just down right wet!
As NBC New York reports, "In general, the remainder of the workweek will remain gray and grim, with a chance of showers." It's a blah week and all this wetness, fog and precipitation not only makes us cranky but it complicates travel, outside activities and of course, baseball.
Now, I understand that you have to try and keep the baseball dry in order to keep a good grip on it. I understand wiping your brow, shaking the water off your uniform, flapping your glove against your leg to release the excess water and yes, even wiping off your bat. However, where and how you dry off your bat is where I need to draw the line.
There he was, Alex Rodriguez on national television, ESPN Sunday Night Baseball, in fact, against the Boston Red Sox, wiping his bat between his legs. Okay, across his crotch. Now, I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it and then read about it and then hear Jimmy Fallon's monologue about it.
The Daily News said it like this, "A-Rod took a step out of the batter’s box and proceeded to rub his bat up and down his groin area in a way that was sure to go viral all over social media in a matter of minutes." What's even worse. This is not the first time. In fact, he chose his private area as a towel for his bat back in 2006 against the Baltimore Orioles.
Is this a joke? Does he just not care? Is he that cocky? I truly don't know. But, I can tell you this, I can't stop laughing at the stupidity. ARod's antics only adds to the clown-like atmosphere we are exhibiting as basement dwellers of the AL East. I haven't felt this bad about the Yankees since the lulls of the 80s. We look like clowns and with ARod around, x-rated clowns.
The Yankees led by Rodriguez look utterly ridiculous. Not sure how much more of this rain and comedic baseball I can take. Oh, yeah, and it is only the first week of May.
