NICE TOUCH, YANKS!

This is just a tiny story but in the grand scheme of Yankee things... I just find it kind of cool.

The Tampa Bay Times reported that the Yankee practice fields are now being named.

"The Yankees have named the four fields at the team's minor-league complex in Florida to honor Billy Martin, Derek Jeter, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig

(Some of the fields in the area)

The fields reflect the number worn by the Yankees' legends:
1. Billy Martin Field.
2. Derek Jeter Field.
3. Babe Ruth Field.
4. Lou Gehrig Field.

The Yankees have retired the uniform numbers of Martin, Ruth and Gehrig, with Jeter expected to join the list."

I guess now the next thing to speculate about is whether or not this is the year that Derek Jeter's #2 will be officially retired... because we all know it's happening... it's just a matter of when.
