Nice little nugget to start off your Tuesday. In addition to the Starlin Castro deal and the Justin Wilson trade, the Yankees, who need a solid starting pitcher, checked with the Nationals about lefty stud Gio Gonzalez.
I'm not kidding.
According to Sweeny Murti:
Yankees/Nats briefly talked about Gio last year. Not a bad fit IMO but can't imagine asking price based on this. https://t.co/oOYknBIjEj

Now here's the thing, DON'T get excited in you're a Yankee fan. This is a nugget and that's all it is.The asking price for Gonzalez would pretty much wipe out the Yankees farm system and that would be utterly ridiculous.
Yes, Cashman needs to be creative if he wants to acquire someone like Gio, but I am not sure how creative he can be. This could be really tough, and so, we leave that rumor on a Post-it and move on.
Enjoy your Tuesday.
