TASTES LIKE CHICKEN!
The comedy of today's win was staring me in the face. A kid named Bird hits a home run to beat the Orioles. Plus, the Jays lost. Let the Bird jokes start pouring in...
It was a major home run... and Greg Bird hit it. With the game tied 5-5, Birdie hit a 3 run homer to put the Yankees ahead 8-5. It was big and it was glorious. In the end, the Yankees win. More importantly, the Blue Jays lost to the Red Sox today... 11-4. That's even bigger. Life is good right now, but we need more... we need first place.
Today the Yankees put Michael Pineda on the mound. He went 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 runs. He looked OK. After Pineda, Justin Wilson, Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller held the O's to just 2 more runs.
The Yankee run scoring went like this:
In the first, Chris Young singled knocking in Chase Headley. Next, in the 3rd, with the Yankees down 4-1, Young came through again, this time doubling and knocking in 1. Then ARod came up and homered. He seems to be getting over his slump. That's a good thing.
After ARod, it was John Ryan Murphy homering. In the 7th, with Yanks and O's tied 5-5, Greg Bird came up with 2 men on. He cranked one out, and made it 8-5.
After it became 8-6... Miller shut the door... save number 32. Yanks won... and the bird is the word.
Final: Yankees 8 - Orioles 6
