MASTERFUL MASAHIRO!
Masahiro Tanaka was back in the Yankees rotation today and it was pure amazement. Everyone that I spoke to who saw him pitch used words like "gem", "awesome" and "outstanding". You gotta wonder if we are seeing a truly healthy Tanaka right now or was it just a fluke. Look, I just like that he pitched so well. I really want to get everything out of our investment in this guy. If today's a glimpse into the rest of the season, we're in a great place.
Tanaka went 7 innings, gave up 3 hits and 1 run. He struck out 9. Chris Capuano came out for some pen work and did fine. Andrew Miller then came in to shut the door. Neither reliever gave up another run.
The Yankees scored 3 runs like this...
In the second, Mark Teixeira hit a solo homer. "Holy crap" doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about Tex right now. Good for him. He better get an All-Star nod.
In the 4th, my man Garrett Jones, finally in a groove, hit a 2 run shot knocking in Alex Rodriguez... and just like that, those are your three.
It was a good day in Seattle, we swept the Mariners and now we move on to the Angels. Hopefully we continue our great play.
Oh yeah... and Robinson Cano? 0-4 with a strike out. Enjoy the dough Robbie...
Be sure to read our latest on Cano on BYB titled: DUMB & LONELY IN SEATTLE.
Final: Yankees 3 - Mariners 1
