ONE TEAM HAS "AN EDGE" FOR JAMES SHIELDS

It's becoming more and more evident that the Yankees are not exactly "in" on James Shields. When word spread that he would prefer a West coast club, things started to no longer look like the Yankees would make a move to sign James Shields. I know... "Well, Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman said he wouldn't sign in the Bronx."  Yup, and I'm telling you others said he may.  It's all who you read... don't lecture me... you're better than that.

Even Ken Davidoff of the New York Post at one point predicted the Red Sox would sign him for $100 million.  That was an old story, but my point is this... in this market, things happened very slowly for Shields, and now are picking up steam fast.

Bob Nightengale tweeted this:
Now, I don't know anything, no one truly does, but I would say it's a safe bet at this point that Shields could land there.  Don't you?

We'll let you know what happens. It was reported on BYB this week that Shields is expected to make a decision by the end of the week.  Well, it's Friday.

Stay tuned...
