WINNING TODAY BRINGS MOMENTUM INTO TOMORROW
The Yankees gave Brandon McCarthy offense today... something he doesn't always get. Good for him.
Good for the Yankees.
McCarthy went 6.2 innings today. He gave up 6 hits and only 2 runs. He was solid. The other guy who was solid? Martin Prado. 3-4 today with 2 runs scored. You can't beat the energy of Prado. I love having him in the Yankee lineup.
The Yankee run scoring went like this:
Mark Teixeira singled knocking in Prado in the first inning. In the 3rd, Jacoby Ellsbury tripled and John Ryan Murphy was able to score. Then, Derek Jeter sacrificed home Ellsbury.
In the 4th, with Ellsbury at bat, there was a throwing error that allowed Chase Headley to score. In the 5th inning, Carlos Beltran doubled knocking in 1, and then, shortly after, Ichiro Suzuki singled and Beltran scored.
Over all, a nice way to win. And looking forward, we could us a big win tomorrow when the Yankee universe honors Derek Jeter. After all, that's what Jeter would want most on that day... a win!
Final: Yankees 6 - Royals 2
