KURODA & TEIXEIRA RIGHT THE SHIP

And just in time too... I was almost ready to give up...

The Yankees pulled out a win in Toronto tonight. It was necessary because they've been pretty horrible lately, but you know that.

Tonight's game had some timely hitting and some great pitching right down the line, from Hiroki Kuroda to DRob.

Kuroda went 6.1 innings, gave up 8 hits and only 3 runs. The rest of the pen, Shawn Kelley, Matt Thornton, Adam Warren and DRob followed and shut the Jays down.  Very nice.  Look, I talk about pitchers alot here, and the idea of not letting a game get away from a club. I use the number 3 alot because 3 is doable, meaning, a team can chip away at that.

Kuroda did it right tonight, the pen did it right too and by the way, I may have sounded harsh toward Phelps the other night in THE PHELPS SEE-SAW STRIKES AGAIN and truth be told, it's up to him to not allow runs, but Joe Girardi needs to also have his finger on the pulse.  Girardi too needs to know when the pull a pitcher and when not to. Tonight Kuroda figured it out.  The other night with Phelps... not so much.

Anyway... the Yankees run scoring went like this:

In the 3rd inning, Francisco Cervelli doubled and knocked in Kelly Johnson.  Shortly after that, Jacoby Ellsbury singled and scored Cervelli.

Mark Teixeira then homered. It was a 2 run shot. Later on, Tex then sacrificed home Brett Gardner.

Hey, people can be critical of Teixeira and his .241 average all they want... but he's dealing. He's hitting homers, he's knocking in runs, he's a leader.  Hey, it's almost July... Mike O'Hara can't believe Tex is doing so well...

Final: Yankees 5 - Blue Jays 3
