BANUELOS. WILL. BE. AWESOME.
Pete Caldera strikes again. Good piece in today's Bergen Record. The subject? Manny Banuelos and his happiness. Happy to be a New York Yankee and happy that his injury, Tommy John Surgery and recovery is behind him.
Caldera writes: "Seventeen months after Tommy John surgery, the 5-foot-10 lefty finally had climbed a pitching mound in a Yankees uniform and delivered pain-free pitches — with fastballs reaching 93 mph.
'That was awesome [because] I felt like it was 89, 90 [mph],' Banuelos said, smiling as he recounted his two-thirds of an inning Saturday afternoon against the Houston Astros. 'Now, I'm back. Just keep working hard and forget about the past.'"
Key words there... "Now, I'm back." He just built alittle confidence out there yesterday. Confidence is key. What I mean is, despite Manny's not so great outing yesterday, he didn't care, much like I don't. It's babysteps. It's building blocks. For Manny, it was about feeling good and getting out there again. These games don't count, it's the spring... Feinsand forgets that I guess.
He wrote in the New York Daily News: "Man-Ban? More like Man-Wham!
The Astros teed off on Manny Banuelos as the young lefty made his first appearance in a game since May 2012, tagging him for three runs after only three batters before he recorded his only two outs of the day."
Whatever man. Luckily for Manny, someone from the media will NOT keep him down. I like Feinsand, I just didn't care for the pile-on. How about the positive in yesterday's outing. That's why I read Caldera. He always had the nugget. Again, it doesn't matter that Banuelos was teed off on, what matters is he feels good and he'll build from there. That's my take anyway.
Hopefully this kid can work his way back and learn to dominate in the Bigs. After all, we've been waiting for he and Dellin Betances for a while now.
Just thought I'd share. He's inspired... you should be too... it's how you get through life. babysteps. building blocks.
It's gorgeous in New York City today. Go out there and do something big!
