Jack Curry of YES had the report first. The Yankees have signed lefty reliever Matt Thornton to a 2 year deal, pending a physical of course:
Yankees have signed lefty reliever Matt Thornton to a 2-year deal. He will make $3.5 million each season.

We lost lefty Boone Logan and many didn't like the guy when he was in the Bronx. Then, when he signed with the Rockies, people were pissed. We also missed out on bringing back Clay Rapada who ended up signing a minor league deal with the Angels. Look, the Yankees are trying to change the landscape here and are getting new, fresh arms and names. The old way didn't work, give them alittle credit for this. Whether or not Thornton is better than Logan is up for debate. I personally like the move, although 2013 wasn't his best season going 0-4 with a 3.74 ERA.In the end, we needed a lefty... we shall see what happens. Lord knows I'd love to see a guy like Manny Banuelos come up and give us something as well, getting 2 lefties in the pen, but we shall see.
Welcome Matt Thornton.
