KEVIN YOUKILIS WILL PLAY IN JAPAN
Breaking news of sorts... It seems as though the Rakuten Golden Eagles have signed Kevin Youkilis. That news comes from several sources but we'll go with Alex Speier of WEEI.com on this one. According to Alex:
" Kevin Youkilis has reached an agreement to play for the Rakuten Golden Eagles in Japan in 2014. The one-year deal calls for him to earn a $4 million base salary with another $1 million in what one source called “very earnable” incentives."
I guess the Free Agent market in the U.S. just wasn't working out for Youk. It was a shame how he went out last season for the Yankees as well, barely playing due to injury and back surgery. He really had no chance of ever stepping foot in the Bronx again. I guess many teams here just didn't want to take a chance on him.
Well, good luck to Youk. Hope it all works out.
