HERE COMES CARLOS BELTRAN

You have to assume the Yankees have made an official statement with Brian McCann signing this weekend (Read YANKEES TO THE FANS: YES WE MCCANN!) and now they are hot and heavy to get more parts to build a championship team for 2014.  In 2008, when the Yankees didn't make the playoffs, they went into the winter big and it almost seems as though they are repeating history.

The latest rumor has been all about Carlos Beltran, a 37 year old who the Yankees have been attached to off and on for at least 7 years.  Things don't always work out though, including timing and finally, after all these years, there seems to be a mutual love for each other.  The only thing in the way right now is the amount of years the Yanks want Beltran for, and what Beltran wants.  Of course, Beltran wants alittle security and it has everything with getting the Yankees to bite on more than 1 or 2 seasons. After all, the Yankees already have old guys, do they need more?  They also need to save alittle.

According to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News, "According to sources, the Yankees have set Beltran as their No. 1 target while they wait to reignite talks with Robinson Cano, for Hiroki Kuroda to decide whether he wants to return next season and for the Japanese posting system to be hammered out so righthander Masahiro Tanaka can be made available... Beltran has let it be known to those around him that the Yankees are his top choice, hoping to finally land himself in pinstripes after previous free-agent flirtations during the past decade did not work out... All of which begs the question: Why haven’t the sides reached a deal yet? Beltran is looking for a three-year deal, a source said, while the Yankees would like to sign him for only two."

There is mutual interest here ladies and gentlemen... The years just aren't, yet. But it's about to happen, trust me.  And look,  if it doesn't, consider this... do you want the Red Sox to get him? Do you want him to blossom in Boston or do we roll the dice and make this happen?  Is Beltran the right guy? If not, who?

I'll let you know if anything happens with this one, but it appears "close."
