CANO: "SHOW ME THE MONEY"
I just wanted to show you a quote from Brian Cashman that puts everything in perspective if you are a fan, or General Manager for a powerful team like the New York Yankees. When it comes to Free Agents, big money and guys like Robinson Cano, you never know what's going to happen before it happens. That goes all the way to the top, with people like Cashman and Steinbrenner and the like. No one knows what any of these players are thinking. That's why speculation builds and that's why sites like Bleeding Yankee Blue become popular. People are clicking away looking for any nugget they can find. The truth is, we all have the same thing... not much, until it happens.
I'm not writing another article about Robinson Cano here. I've been pretty on point telling you that we'll have to wait and see what happens, but in the end, we all know what Cano's about if he signs a $300 million contract somewhere and DOESN'T stay with the New York Yankees. I believe it's a greed, money grab. There is no other way about it... loyalty goes out the window. And, by the way, if he can command big money, good for him, that's the way it is. Baseball is a business. Cano doesn't care about the Yankee fans if he leaves, remember that.
So, here's the quote from Cashman, putting it all in perspective... it's from Ken Davidoff of the New York Post, and Cash said simply of Cano: "He loves the money, but I think we’ll have a substantial offer... Somebody might come in and have a much more substantial offer. It’s just the way it works.”
You don't need to read anything further. When something happens, we will tell you, but that's where we're at.
The end... for now.
