I'm one of those people that likes to check out how guys are doing after they leave the Yankees. First, because I am interested to see how the change in environment will affect their game play. And secondly, because I am a baseball fan first, Yankees fan second. I like to pay attention to players, and be well informed on their progress. So let's take a look at some of our former Yankee friends, shall we?
AJ Burnett: When AJ Burnett left the Yankees, for the Pirates, I knew he would do better. Need proof? In 2011, his ERA was 5.15. With the Pirates, he had a 3.51 ERA last season, and a 3.12 ERA, and 31 earned runs this season.
Russell Martin: Martin is currently hitting .247, with 56 hits. He did well in the end of April, and May, but seems to be slowing down a little bit.
Eric Chavez: Chavvy is just coming off of an injury, that kept him out of the game for all but two game in June. He had an incredible start to the season before the injury, and is hitting .310.
Raul Ibanez: Our former post-season hero had a slow April with the Mariners, but is slowly picking up the pace. He has hit 10 home runs in the month of June alone. He's up to 20 this season already. Last season with the Yankees he had 19 total. He's currently hitting .247 with 57 hits.
Nick Swisher: Swish suffered a sore left shoulder in the month of June. Unfortunately, his batting average has suffered as a result of it, hitting only .160 in June, and bringing his overall batting average down to .243. By the way, a forgotten interview with him can be found on BYB. Check it out, read EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: NICK SWISHER. He was a fun Yankee!
We'll try and update you again soon.
