I have a confession to make. I'm a something of a Nova fan girl. I'm okay with this. Even last season, when he struggled, I waved my Nova flag proudly. I knew what he was capable of, and knew that with a little bit of time in Triple A to readjust, he would come back stronger.
His time in the minors has been beneficial. In 2012, he had a lot of maturing to do. His post game responses often left a lot to be desired. He seemed unable take the credit for his pitching blunders. His entire demeanor has changed. He has recognized that he needed to make an adjustment, and needs to work hard to stay in the rotation.
I'm not saying that is the key element to his change, but I think being able to own ones mistakes is a huge step towards changing for the better. Nova may not be able to carry the weight of the entire team on his back, but he can give us a fighting chance. With CC, and Andy both struggling, a strong Nova in the rotation, can make a world of difference.
I'm okay with chanting "Super Nova" again. He's made the adjustments needed, and acknowledges what he needs to do to stay in the game. There is no more pointing fingers for him. It's all about playing hard; grinding it out. He is determined to keep his earn his place, and keep it, in pinstripes.
