Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports (HERE) claims that more names are going to be released in the Biogenesis Scandal. He writes: "There are new names coming in the Biogenesis case. They are not big names. They are not superstars. Neither matters. More than anything, this embodies the great frustration of the scandal that has clenched its jaws on baseball and refuses to yield: until final judgment is rendered, a thousand great unknowns hang over the sport, haunt it, sap it of energy like a battery-draining app."
Great opening to his piece, and I agree with it. According to what I'm hearing, this MLB investigation is bigger than anything they have ever done... and this time they are serious. That is why I have written so extensively about this, giving my opinion on the matter from a parent perspective... read PEDs... AND WHAT SHOULD COME NEXT. I believe that MLB wants to make it crystal clear to everyone that they are really, REALLY serious this time, as opposed to the last time when they set up suspensions for offenders. All that did was allow offenders to serve their punishment and come back and some of then even got caught again... pathetic.
Passan goes on: "Sources this week told Yahoo! Sports the names publicly linked to Biogenesis are not the only major league players being investigated, and that, too, promises to be another storyline in a second half of the season. Not just who's going to be suspended for frequenting the Miami-area clinic that allegedly distributed performance-enhancing drugs. Or for how long. Or when. But who the mystery players are. And how their possible suspensions may affect the future of their teams."
Now there are mixed reports about when the suspensions are coming. I've read they are "about to happen." I've also read they won't happen until next season, read HERE. I know this, it would make sense that the evidence be 100% in favor of Major League Baseball for them to make those suspensions reality, rather than allegations.
There is about to be alot of craziness here. There's going to be accusations, appeals and alot of banter back and forth, but one thing is for sure, as frustrating as this is... MLB has dug in their heels this time... they're serious.
We'll keep you posted as they move forward.
