YANKEES PLOW THROUGH DESPITE OBSTACLES

I really don't know how they're doing it, but they're winning.  Sometimes teams click and when they do, it's the greatest, most contagious thing to ever happen to a city. You almost know you have the game in the bag before it begins.  I know that sounds ridiculous, but when you believe, anything is possible and that's what the Bronx Bombers are doing right now.

With an already crazy injury list, the Yankees added 2 more.  As you first read on BYB in CERVELLI BROKE HIS HAND... I'M NOT KIDDING... Francisco Cervelli, the passion of this club did exactly that...broke his hand. Then Ivan Nova came out of the game with elbow soreness and that's being examined as well.  But what do the Yankees do? They win. They win for Cervelli and Nova and Derek Jeter.  They do it for Mark Teixeira and Curtis Granderson and ARod... and they do it for Johnny too.

Why? Because they know they need to.  They reach back, they dig deep and they go.  Then, when it's time, they hand the ball to Mariano Rivera and it's done!

Vernon Wells was 2 for 3 tonight with an RBI.  Brett Gardner had a home run tonight, his 3rd of the year. Lyle Overbay had and RBI triple... in a nutshell,  guys are contributing and they are finding ways to win.  Even to the point where Travis Hafner came in tonight and didn't hit, but walked twice. Even Eduardo Nunez is playing an excellent shortstop lately.

It's the little things and everything helps, especially now.

David Phelps came in to replace Nova tonight and pitched 4 innings, and allowed only 1 run on 2 hits.  David Robertson gave up another run on a home run, and that was the last run the Jays would get.  Mo came in and shut the door.

Final tonight: Yankees 6 - Blue Jays 4.

When we find out more on Cervelli and Nova, we'll bring it to you here on BYB. Look for it.
