THE YANKEES ARE GETTING BUSY!

Brace yourselves... what I am about to say will shock you. Are you ready? The Yankees are doing well.

I know, I know. Completely absurd, right? I mean, with all the experts predicting how terribly we would do this season, how could this possibly be true? With Curtis Granderson, Mark Texieria and Derek Jeter all out, and an aging line-up, it isn't possible. Except it is.

The Yankees are 10 and 7; only a game and a half out of first place. Robinson Cano has stepped up to the plate, leading the team in batting average, hits, RBI's and home runs. Our new additions of Vernon Wells and Travis Hafner, along with Francisco Cervelli are all hitting over .300.

Andy Pettitte, Hiroki Kuroda and CC Sabathia are all doing amazing on the mound. And Mariano Rivera already has five saves.

After an opening series against Boston that left much to be desired, it seems someone in the Clubhouse has broken out the smelling salt for our guys! It's as if this were an entirely different team than the one we saw opening day. Granted, we are only seventeen games in. But, for a team that usually doesn't do well in the first half, I'd say they are doing a great job of proving the neigh-sayers wrong.

Our team has received tons of criticism. People have commented on everything from the age of our players to our inability to perform without the Captain. And maybe that is why the Yankees are playing the way they are now. They are all heart out on that field. Maybe they realize that they have something to prove.

Look, I know that there is no way to predict the outcome of a season based on the first two weeks. Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint. But with so many ups and downs that come in baseball, you have to allow yourself to enjoy the victories.

Do a celebratory Charlie Brown dance when things are going well. And for the Yankees, that time is now. I don't know what will happen within the next two weeks, and neither do any baseball experts. So lets enjoy the now while we hope for this streak to continue, and our chase for 28 to be complete at the end of October.
